heightened eraser char drawing. ebony pencil words overlayed in center. self portrait sitting on stool. the shoes are symbolic of two things, one is the fact that they are torn and dirty, the other is the american life, common little converse, the all american shoe. what im saying up top is "chuck taylors mother had breast cancer". this is a peice about how my situation with a sick mother isnt anything special. its a normal part of american life. (chuck taylor made converse.)

oh yeah, and compositionally, the words are off centered and weigh the page to one side, creating the illusion that the stoll is unsteady and that i might fall off.

thank you a lot. drawing class in freshman yr is all about realism and rendering correctly. its not my style really (if you see my earlier stuff) but i enjoyed doing it. It would look a lot more realistic if it were placed in an environment.

Awsome drawing. Its such a creative twist to a self portrait, and very well thought out at that. Plus the shading is wonderfully done. Great work.

thank you very much, i wanted to do odd little self portraits, and so i figured shoes show a lot about personality.
